Characteristics

The common greenshank is a gray-green bird with a slightly upturned bill. Its abdomen is white. These birds generally appear in chest-deep water and forage on the waters edge or shallow water, often making clear “tiu-tiu” calls. When they migrate, the fly across land.
Habits: The common greenshank mainly eats insects, small fish, shrimp, frogs, and invertebrates.
Winter/Common; Body length: 30 cm
Birdwatching period: August-May
